Duel in the Desert – July 9-10

July 4, 2016 · 0 comments

Duel in the Desert Iron Outrigger races are being held in July this year. And that means a few changes, all for the better! It will be much warmer. And the water will be warm and inviting. Bring sunscreen and lots to hydrate with.

  • This will be the last CORA Cup race before the Championships in Gibsons, so the long course distance will be longer - approx. 20 km
  • The water will be much warmer, so we won't stay near shore, and we're going to use the WHOLE lake.
  • We'll be running the mixed (Masters and Senior Masters) with the Women's Race and the mixed (Open) with the Men's race to make more boats available.
  • And of course there'll be food and some of the best prizes in the outrigger world!

  • There will be a short course at 9:30 am if we get enough pre-registration
  • Small boats will be a MASS START at 11 am for everyone, and the goal is to make it a DOWNWIND the length of Skaha Lake (approx. 11.49 km) so leave your boats on your vehicle until the direction is decided.
  • Adequate time will be given to get your boat to whichever end of the lake.

If your crew is coming, we’d appreciate if you could let us know (so we can make more wine, and beer, and honey, etc for prizes….)
