    David Thompson Paddlesport Classic

“The longest Paddlesport event in British Columbia”

The second 3-day, 125 kilometer, David Thompson Paddlesport Classic will challenge paddlers on Lake Revelstoke August 17 – 19, 2018 with many paddlers returning from last year. It begins at Mica Creek, north of Revelstoke, BC and continues between the snow-capped Selkirk and Monashee mountains, finishing at the Revelstoke Dam. Participants must transport their boats over 6 short mandatory portages totalling 5 km along the shore to break up the paddling. Organized by the not-for-profit Revelstoke Paddlesport Association the event is open to all paddlesport enthusiasts, both competitive and recreational to experience adventure and friendly competition amid some of the most breathtaking scenery in Canada.

This event is more about endurance than competition. The non- competitive Open Class is expected to become the class with the most entries. It is the class for those paddlers in any vessel who just want to complete the entire course each day within the allotted time and earn the coveted 125 km distance pin. If the paddler returns a second time a 250 km distance pin is awarded and so on.

Those who want to race enter in the boat class that best fits their vessel and are eligible for the unique and prestigious wooden medals for 1st, 2nd and 3rd in their boat, age and gender class in addition to distance pins. There are 3 outrigger classes.

The David Thompson Paddlesport Classic welcomes canoes, kayaks, outriggers, row-boats and stand-up paddleboards in many age, family and gender classes. There is a group for everyone! Those interested in paddling only one day are welcome on Sunday. Pit crews to support paddlers are welcome, but for those who don’t have a pit crew, buses will shuttle paddlers to the start line each day.

All participants receive a T-shirt, snacks, paddler shuttles, a post-race meal and eligible awards and mileage pins. Entry deadline is July 31.
