Summer Racing

This year’s Howe Sound Challenge welcomed 60 paddlers - on 53 outrigger canoes and surfskis, to blue skies and sunshine, to race from Porteau Cove to the Nexen lands in Squamish. After fighting through a flat patch at the corner, paddlers were able to reconnect with the wind and waves coming into Squamish. The breeze at Nexen Beach was in the 25 Knot range, so paddlers were surfing through the finish line faster than timers could write down their numbers!

All in all a good day of racing ... Check out the results on the CORA Race Results page.

Next up is traveling time: July 21 – The Gorge (Stevenson WA); July 28 – International Outrigger Challenge (Toronto, ON); August 4 – Vernon Freshwater Challenge. This all leads up to the IVF World Va'a Spint Championships, August 11 to August 15, in Calgary AB.

Enjoy this summer of paddling!
