2019 World Distance Championships – Coaches

April 14, 2018 · 0 comments

CORA is accepting applications to be part of the coaching team for the 2019 World Distance Championships.

We are looking for experienced coaches to assist in selecting and coaching Team Canada for the 2019 International Va’a Federation (IVF) World Distance Championships. Canada had a strong showing at the 2017 Championships in Tahiti, and our goal is to build on that success at the 2019 competition in Australia. Depending on interest from Canadian paddlers, there is potential to field women’s and men’s crews in the U-19, Open, 40s, 50s, 60s and 70s age classifications. The coaching team will be tasked with assembling the best possible crews from across Canada for this competition and developing the athletes and crews in a supportive environment that promotes the values of competition, respect and good sportsmanship.

This work will be done as part of a collaborative committee of coaches and CORA’s IVF representative. While positions on the coaching committee are primarily volunteer in nature, the selected individuals may be compensated for coaching services at team trials and training camps dependent on available budget, and any local travel expenses incurred to attend team trials or training camps will be covered.

See the attached files: 2019 Coaching Committee Info for information and the CORA IVF Coaching Committee Application form.
