Canadian Championship Iron and Small Boat Race

WHEN: August 18 - OC6 Iron Championship Race
August 19 - CORA Cup Championship Small Boat Race
(Note: As the championship race was cancelled due to weather, this final race of the series is now the championship race of the CORA small boat series. This means that your small boat results on Sunday, August 19 at KYC will net you double the points and is mandatory if you wish to compete in the series.
LOCATION: Kitsilano Yacht Club, Vancouver, BC. Launching will be from Kitsilano Beach. Walk to North Beach from KYC is approx 0.7 km

high tide - 10:27am @ 11.9 ft

BOAT LOADING, STORAGE, and TRAILER PARKING : OC-6 loading and trailer storage at either Burrard Marina or Jericho Sailing Center. Paddle to Kits beach on race day.
Note: Unless you are familiar with driving boat trailers on Kits Point and would like to use the Burrard Marina to load your boats, please load at Jericho Sailing Centre. This parking lot is much easier to access with a trailer. Please use the grassy area to the east of the sailing centre for boat rigging.
There is limited small boat storage available at Kitsilano Yacht Club. E-mail pacificreach@novuscom.net to make arrangements.
To borrow a boat, please post a message on the CORA message board.
PARKING: Parking is available at the race site in the public pay parking lot by the tennis courts.
FOOD and ENTERTAINMENT: We have moved "Barry's BBQ" up the beach and he'll be cooking for us again! "Johnnie and the Outriggers" and the fire dancers are also back by popular demand, and we have other Hawaiian entertainment.

7:30am - 12:00pm - Registration (ends one hour prior to race start)
8:30am - OC-6 Short Course
10:00am - OC-6 Women's Long Course
1:00pm - OC-6 Men's and Mixed Long Course
1:10pm - Surfski Long Course (Men and Women)
5:00 - 7:00pm - Registration open for Small Boats Sunday
Kits Yacht Club:
5:00pm Barry's BBQ at KYC
6:00pm Awards
6:30pm Johnnie and the Outriggers
7:30pm Door prizes and other entertainment
Courses will be approximately 14km (short) and 22km (long) - determined on race day and dependent on conditions.
NOTE** Cash bar at KYC starting at 11am
NO ALCOHOL PERMITTED ON THE BEACH!!

The small boat races will be approximately 10-12km and are also dependent on conditions.
Note: PFD's Mandatory, Leashes recommended
REGISTRATION: (*** All 6 Novice paddlers must have less than 2 years' of outrigger paddling experience.)
After August 4: registration increases by $5 per paddler.
Your race fee includes Barry's BBQ, live music by Johnnie and the Outriggers, many fantastic draw prizes, Hawaiian entertainment and party at Kits Yacht Club on Saturday night.
Registration tent will be at Kits beach.

CATEGORIES: Racer categories will be set on August 4, so if you want to be entered in an official category other than Open you MUST register BEFORE August 4.
RACE PRIZES: $2400 total cash ($600 for the fastest women's, men's, mixed crew), Fastest Novice and Juniors $300 each....plus other fantastic prizes.
CANADIAN CHAMPIONSHIP SHIRTS: A limited number of technical race shirts will be available. Please order before August 4 if you want a shirt and your size guaranteed.
