Free Paddling Clinic at the 2007 Jericho Classic

This clinic is scheduled for Sunday - the day after the Jericho Iron.


Race times for Saturday' Iron are:
Novice / Junior - 9:30 | Women - 10:30 | Men / Mixed - 12:30


Clinic Format
Once again, CORA is presenting a free OC-1 stroke analysis clinic after the small boat race on Sunday May 27. This year’s clinic will be similar to last year’s with some scheduling and registration changes.

Start Time: Immediately following the awards
Length of session: 1.5-2 hours
Video: Video will be taken at the finish of the race and used for stroke analysis during the clinic
Pre-registration details: In contrast to last year, this year we are asking for you to pre-register for this event. Same-day registration will only be available if space remains.

Instructor Bios:

Kamini Jain

Kamini brings a highly competitive and diversified canoe-sport background to her coaching clinics. In her 22 year commitment to excellence in paddle sports she has coached and competed in outrigger canoe, dragon boat, marathon canoe, surf-ski and sprint kayak at the highest levels. Her primary focus has been sprint kayak with 9 years on the Canadian National Team during which she earned 11 World Cup medals and competed at both the 2000 and 2004 Olympic Games in the four person kayak. In addition, Kamini has also gained a reputation as a successful dragon boat coach taking both a men’s and a mixed crew from False Creek Racing Canoe Club to the top of the podium at the 2006 World Club Crew Championships. In outrigger, her accomplishments include a 2001 victory at the U.S. Outrigger Championships (Catalina Crossing), 3 top-6 Molokai OC-6 finishes and a third place finish at this year’s Catalina OC-1 Relay Crossing with teammate and fellow instructor, Patti Lawson.


Patti Lawson

Patti Lawson has been competing in paddle sports for 12years, getting her start in marathon canoe before choosing outrigger canoe as her primary focus. As a 7-year member of False Creek Racing Canoe Club’s successful women’s A-crew she has raced locally and internationally with outstanding results. Among Patti’s OC-6 accomplishments are a 3rd place at the U.S. Long Distance Outrigger Championships (Catalina Crossing), 4th and 6th place finishes at Molokai and a 4th place at Australia’s famous Hamilton Island Regatta. In addition, she has had many OC-1 and OC-2 successes including three 3rd place finishes in the Catalina Small Boat Crossing, two in OC-1 and the other in OC-2. As well as being a passionate paddler, Patti is a committed coach. She spent 4 years as the head coach of the Lotus Sports Club and is currently the coach of the FCRCC Kapuna Outrigger Program. In addition, Patti has coached several False Creek crews through change races including the Catalina Crossing.
