8th Annual Brotchie Reach Outrigger Race

Both courses start at the Gorge Rowing & Paddling Centre (GRPC), in the award winning Selkirk Waterfront Community at 2940 Jutland Road, Victoria, BC.

Open Course (10km):
Teams start the race in the Gorge Waterway and continue through Victoria Harbour out to Brotchie navigational marker. Once around the turn teams will race along the same course to GRPC.

Sheltered Course (course/distance TBA):
Designed for Recreational and Novice Teams.

All steerspeople must attend a safety meeting (time TBA) prior to racing. The race schedule will be posted after the registration deadline.

TEAM INFORMATION
There will be three team categories each day – MIXED, WOMEN, MEN. Mixed team must have a minimum of three women. Awards will go to the top three finishers in all Divisions.There must be three teams registered to make a category.

EQUIPMENT
All clubs are responsible to provide their own equipment. If a club cannot provide their own equipment, they may be able to borrow from a local club for a nominal fee (if equipment available).

REGISTRATION INFORMATION
• Deadline: Wednesday, April 27, 2007 at 12PM.
• Price: $90/team/day ($15.00/paddler).
• Late Registration: $120/team/day ($20/padder) and is only available if space permits.
• Payment: Visa, Mastercard, Cheque (payable to the Gorge Rowing & Paddling Centre). In order for your spot to be guaranteed Full payment must be received with registration.
• Forms: Please drop off or mail registration information to 115-2940 Jutland Road, Victoria, BC, V8T-5K6 (in Gorge Fitness).
• Refund/Cancellation Policy: There will be 15% administrative fee for all withdrawals. The final date to withdraw a team from the event(s) is Friday April 27, 2007. There will be no refunds of any type after this date, including if the event is cancelled due to safety reasons and weather. See weather and safety related notes below.

WEATHER & SAFETY RELATED NOTES
The Brotchie Reach OC6 and Small Boat races are outdoor events and as such is subject to changing weather. Race officials, as always, will monitor conditions to ensure a safe event for all participants. In the event that conditions become unsafe (at Race Committees discretion), the Race Committee reserves the right to modify or cancel racing prior to or during racing. PFD’s ARE MANDATORY. Paddlers are encouraged to bring their own PFD’s and paddles.
