2006 CORA AGM & Technical Meeting

The 2006 CORA Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Technical Meetings were held on the weekend of November 18 & 19 at the Jericho Sailing Center. While attendance was light, it was a productive weekend.
At these meetings, the 2007 race schedule has been set. It will be online this week, so watch for it. A new CORA executive was elected with two returnees from last year, Donna Harrison and Lisa Robertson. We thank the 2006 board for their work and dedication to the sport. We also thank the paddlers who have volunteered their time and efforts to represent you as the 2007 CORA executive.
Two of the big discussion items of the weekend were sprint racing and junior paddler development. The new race schedule includes more sprint races to help promote this aspect of the sport. A sprint council is now at work to define the races and the qualifications for international sprint race participation. All clubs are encouraged to do what they can to promote junior paddlers. More information will be provided on the web site on ways to do that.

If you think that other items should have been discussed at the AGM, or that the association should be moving in other directions, it's up to you as a paddler and your club to be at the meetings. Your voices are welcome and we hope to see you there next year!!
